Practical marketing mentoring for a sole trader ready to grow with confidence

The challenge: A sole trader looking for marketing help

When I was approached by a well-established travel consultancy offering premium, bespoke adventure holidays, it was clear they didn’t need a full rebrand or flashy campaign. What they needed was focus: a structured marketing strategy to bring consistency, confidence, and a steady flow of enquiries.

Like many experienced sole traders, my client was excellent at delivering their service but found marketing overwhelming. With multiple brands to manage targeting different audiences, and no clear way of prioritising activity, it was easy to feel stuck. They wanted a simple, actionable plan that would keep them consistent, strengthen their online presence, and make marketing feel manageable.

The solution: One-to-one marketing bootcamp for small business owners

We agreed the best fit was my Marketing Bootcamp, a one-to-one programme designed for small business owners who want tailored support rather than generic group coaching.

Over two months, we worked through four structured sessions covering:

  • Competitor and customer insight

  • Brand positioning and messaging

  • Content planning and SEO basics

  • Budget setting and prioritisation

Between sessions, my client completed short, targeted exercises to apply what they’d learned. This kept the process practical and ensured every part of the plan was built around their real goals, resources, and customers.

By the end, they had created a realistic marketing plan they understood and felt confident using.

The results: A clear plan and renewed confidence

The transformation was clear. Instead of feeling reactive, the business owner now had:

  • A focused marketing plan aligned to their brand and audiences

  • Confidence in their messaging and how to communicate it

  • A stronger way of using testimonials to build trust and credibility

  • Fresh customer and competitor insights that shaped smarter decisions

  • A marketing plan that was structured, practical, and easy to maintain

Most importantly, they left the bootcamp feeling in control of their marketing. They knew what was working, why it was working, and how to create a more reliable flow of enquiries instead of peaks and troughs.

The experience: Marketing mentoring that made a difference

The client described the bootcamp as extremely valuable appreciating the structure, focus, and honest support provided. Having a sounding board gave them the confidence to take charge of their marketing. They said it was the first time they truly had a plan they could stick to.

Since completing the programme, they’ve continued to put the plan into action and adapt as their market evolves.

Why marketing strategy matters for sole traders

This case study shows that sole traders and small businesses don’t always need a complete marketing overhaul. Often, what makes the difference is having a trusted marketing consultant who can provide clarity, structure, and mentoring.

With the right plan in place, marketing feels less overwhelming, more consistent, and far more effective. Even small changes can create long-term impact, build confidence, and support steady business growth.

If you’re an established business owner looking for practical strategy marketing help my Marketing Bootcamp could be the right fit.
