7 small business tech trends for 2020

Technological innovation has been so fast paced over the last few years, particularly in marketing. It is hard to keep up. This article gives some useful tips for small business owners on how technology can help your business with every day tasks from social media to invoicing.
Although, I’m a marketer and traditionally from a more traditional creative world, I’ve had no choice but to embrace the technological revolution that has taken place in marketing within the last decade.
Marketing has seen some unparalleled advancements and there is no going back.
2020 will see the mass adoption of these technologies making these advances the norm and accessible to most SMEs.
The explosion of AI
Some of the biggest changes for me are the explosion of artificial intelligence. New UK research shows how widely used it already is. Artefact UK advises “Six out of ten smart speaker owners have used them to make a purchase in the past year. In fact, nearly a quarter said they have done so within the past week”.
50% of all searches are expected to be voice next year. This has huge marketing implications. It means you need to create content using natural language and your search engine optimisation will need to contain keywords which are more conversational.
Sophisticated chat bots
And next year we will see a huge increase in chat bots. Up until now, I've stayed clear from them. But we will see their their sophistication improve massively automating the customer experience and making it even more personalised.
Undoubtedly, 2020 will see these trends explode and the SMEs who master it will likely win more customers. Those that don’t will be left behind.
